Day 7: My Favorite Childhood Toys

I'm a person of varied interests.

As a child, the same was true.

So I chose a random sampling of my many childhood favorites...
I'm sure I forgot some, but here's what I can think of.

Skip-It (around age 7 maybe?)
I'd go for hours on this thing.
In hot pink, of course.

\

Barbie & Barbie Dream House
(Age 4-7)
Mine had an elevator. Barbie also had a corvette.
And a 17" waist. The beginning of my delusions about adulthood. :)

Glow Worm
(toddler-preschool)
I loved how he glowed and was soft.

Play Kitchen
(Ages 2-6)
OBSESSED. With play food, pretend restaurant, and my play kitchen.
Mine got years of use. Crayons got stuck in the "toaster"...I lost the detachable phone. But none-the-less, my toy kitchen was a favorite for years.

Easel and Arts & Crafts
I got an easel with a chalkboard on one side and giant paper on the other.
I'd use markers, crayons, chalk, paint, etc to create masterpieces!
I was (and am) super into arts and crafts, and I loved this thing.

Pretend First Aid Kit
I used to tell people I was going to be a doctor--but only on monday, wednesday, and friday.
I used to really love my first aid kit. (Even though I hated the doctor.)
I played a LOT of pretend as a kid.

Plastic Rollerblades
I got these around age 8-9. I proceeded to rollerblade everywhere.
In the house. Down hills. On the front stoop.
Ironically, I still love to rollerblade. :)

Fold-able Tumbling Mat
I was the kind of kid that liked to dance and do gymnastics INSIDE.
My mom would start to hear "boom" and "thud" from the living room.
And she'd yell, "Get your mat!"
And I'd take out my mat so I could roll and flip.

CandyLand
My favorite board game as a toddler/preschooler.
Basic and a great time!

50 States Puzzle (Puzzles in general)
Don't think I'm a dork. But it's true.
At age 3 it was my ABCs 26 piece floor puzzle.
And at age 7-8 it was a puzzle of America and all 50 states.

Flat Wooden Geometric Shapes
I shit you not.
I sound more and more like a dweeb every second.

Teddy Ruxpin
I LOVED cassette & book combos.
And I distinctly remember (around age 4-5) LOVING my Teddy.

Lite Brite
No explanation necessary.
What a cool toy. I want one now.

Dress Up
Especially in dance costumes.
I'd put them on my brother too, and put tiny hair elastics in his hair.

That's probably enough for now.
Me, in a nutshell.
What a fun trip down memory lane!!!
